Open Channel Flow Meters are usually used in conjunction with measuring channels and are suitable for triangular weirs, rectangular weirs, and Parshall flumes. During installation, the downstream water level of triangular weirs and rectangular weirs should be lower than the weir ridge, and the flooding of Parshall flumes should be lower than the necessary flooding water level of the parameters.

There are two models of Open Channel Flow Meters. One can distinguish between “integrated type” and “split type” ultrasonic open channel flow meters. A digital LCD meter is mounted on top of the one-piece open channel meter to show flow data, and the integrated type is tiny and compact. Large in size, the split open channel flow meter has cables and probes, and the specially made cables can reach a length of 100 meters. The split open channel flow meter is wall mounted. The user should be mindful of upkeep and keep out of the rain and sun when using it. The split flow meter body can be installed in a protective box or indoors.

Precautions For Use:
The probe’s measuring surface needs to be perpendicular to the water surface being measured in order to use the Open Channel Flow Meter. In practical use, the probe should be fixed using a bracket. The open channel flow meter’s probe is typically positioned 0.4 meters above the greatest water level. It is important for users to make sure that the water channel they are using is free of debris and foam. Although ultrasonic open channel flow meters are useful for monitoring agricultural water, they are not very accurate when measuring solid-material sewage.
